John Steel
John qualified as a solicitor in 1975 and in 1977 became a partner with a local firm, being the resident partner in the Knaresborough office. In 1997 he set up his own successful practice in Boston Spa, expanding in November 2000 by opening another office in Knaresborough.
John's experience covers all aspects of private client work including prosecuting, defence, matrimonial, commercial conveyancing, commercial/company sales/purchases, agricultural law, employment law, residential conveyancing, trust work and inheritance tax planning.
John now deals predominantly with trusts, inheritance tax planning, commercial and company work, conveyancing and matrimonial, agricultural law and Landlord & Tenant.
John lives locally and is well known in the Harrogate, Knaresborough and Boston Spa area being generally accompanied by his dog, Julius.
Lynn Curl
Since graduating from Leicester University in 1978, Lynn completed her Articles with the Leeds/Bradford firm of Gibbs Pollard. In 1983 Lynn joined a local Knaresborough firm before leaving to join Steel & Co as a Partner in November 2000.
Lynn lives locally and finds her knowledge of the area to be of great benefit to her large private client base which includes many elderly clients. Her work includes Probate, Wills and Residential conveyancing.
Joanne L Brennan
Since obtaining her law degree, Joanne commenced her Articles at the firm of Fearon & Co in Woking, Surrey. She then went on to work for the West Yorkshire firm of Greaves, Atter and Beaumont in Wakefield where she completed her Articles, before joining a local Knaresborough firm.
Joanne spent over ten years working for this local firm before joining Steel & Co where she will be happy to advise on all aspects of residential conveyancing, remortgages and leases, business leases and tenancies. Joanne also deals with Family Law and Wills.
Andrew Scatchard
After completing a degree in history at Edinburgh University, Andrew acquired his legal professional qualifications at the College of Law in York. He completed his training contract at Eversheds, Leeds before joining the real estate department at DLA, Leeds where he specialised in advising on property disputes and procedures. Andrew then spent time at Raworths in Harrogate within the general dispute resolution department before joining Steel & Co late in 2006.
Since then Andrew has continued to advise on all kinds of dispute resolution, including litigation and mediation. He also acts in non-contentious private and commercial property transactions and has expanded his experience in other areas of general practice including company law, insolvency, wills and probate.
Amanda Henderson
After graduating from the University of Leeds in 1982 Amanda completed her articles with Simpson Curtis in Leeds and qualified as a solicitor in 1986.
Amanda stayed in Leeds and worked for Addleshaw Booth until 1992 when she moved to practice locally and joined Steel & Co in 2005 at the Boston Spa office.
Amanda has many years conveyancing and family law experience and works part time assisting in these and related fields and is an accredited specialist with Resolution – the Solicitors Family Law Association.
